Most territory conflicts I can currently bring to mind boil down to a piece of ground two parties think as their - thus claiming that the other party is maiking war on foreign territory.

except one party is a state that governs the territory in question, and the other party is a self-defined band of people. I don't see how you could even think of ascribing any “rights” to the latter. in a world that is not completely insane, that is. our world, of course, is completely insane as far as such matters are concerned…
the “right of national self-determination” is just so much bovine excrement, especially given the reasons cited by its proponents when asked why they think it's a good idea. “nations” are not humans, and not very similar to humans either; respecting their “rights” tends to result in lots of real human deaths. the whole situation where lots of well-meaning idiots are ready to respect and support “national self-determination” makes mere declaring the desire for self-determination, borrowing a term from the computing field, a very dangerous security exploit. not just dangerous, but in fact deadly for many humans among the concerned parties. this murderous stupidity has to stop, and one's head is a good place to begin fixing things. start now, and tell your friends.
